Thredbo Weddings

News Flash !! River Inn nominated in ANNUAL BRIDAL INDUSTRY AWARDS for excellence in Hotel Reception category

Congratulations!

You just found an extraordinarily unique wedding site.

If you want to design your own wedding

and share your wedding event with

your friends and family over a two or three day weekend in Thredbo,

you won't find a more accommodating

wedding location and hosts.

Specialising in Destination Weekend Weddings

Briefly stated, in a weekend wedding the couple, their family, bridal party and guests take a space in an inn, lodge, or bed and breakfast.  Often, they get exclusive use of the space, with the remainder of the guests housed at other area locations.  Spend time with old friends and new family before the big day.

The fact is, it doesn't take thousands of dollars to make priceless wedding memories. Why not avoid the cost and the unnecessary frills of an overdone wedding? Let us help you plan a simple romantic ceremony or destination wedding in the mountains that is meaningful to the both of you, incorporating a wonderful weekend getaway!

We have the resources to set up a romantic ceremony and weekend that both of you will remember for the rest of your lives, all designed to fit the unique personality of your wedding weekend

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS

Though there are many variations, the "weekend wedding" usually runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.

On Friday, the wedding party checks in. This means the bride can hang up her wedding gown in plenty of time for those travel wrinkles to straighten out. The groom can check the schedule with the manager. The parents, the maid of honour and the best man can review their check lists of chores, with plenty of leeway to handle any surprises.

Late that afternoon, there is time to stage a leisurely cocktail party or Gourmet BBQ. It's a good idea to plan this event to be as different as possible from the fancier reception that will follow the next day. If possible, hold it in a different space, with an extremely different menu, with an informal ambiance.

Saturday morning there is time for a good breakfast. Brides and grooms should remember that this may be the only food they eat all day. Sometimes brides take the morning to visit the hair salon with their bridesmaids, but more often a stylist is brought to the destination location, allowing the ladies of the wedding party to “hang out” in their bathrobes and fuzzy slippers until it's time to don their finery.

If, as a couple, you are adhering to the custom of "not seeing the bride on the wedding day,” be sure to plan different breakfast times, the venue is large enough to allow the two of you to stay comfortably separated until the "magic moment" arrives.

In the afternoon, the guests start to arrive and familiarize themselves with the wedding location, "laying claim" to seats for the ceremony, and maybe grabbing a drink, depending on the location and arrangements.

If the couple has decided not to have a bar open prior to the ceremony, a light refreshment of lemonade, or sparkling water will provide alternative hospitality, especially if the ceremony is outdoors on a warmer day.

While the actual length of the event will vary from location to location, it is good to know that your party won't be rushed out the door to make way for another wedding that evening. That's how we define "leisurely."

Yet another advantage of a destination/weekend wedding is that at the end of a long day, instead of the bride and groom driving off into the sunset, with the guests waving bon voyage, it's the couple that get to bid farewell to their guests!

Come Sunday morning, people tend to sleep late. Who can blame them? Slowly, they wander out to get coffee, and consider breakfast. Here’s where the weekend wedding has one more trick up its sleeve --- a Sunday Brunch!

At Brunch, your valued wedding guests, many of whom have come a long way and who you may not be seeing again for sometime, are treated to big Sunday Champagne breakfast get-together.

Then, a full, wonderful, memory-filled, 48 hours after it began, it's time to pack up the wedding clothes and gifts, and head back to "life as you knew it."
