Rivers Restaurant

This award winning restaurant will appeal to both families and couples. Located at the River Inn, Thredbo close to the Gunbarrel chair lift, it’s quiet and relaxing, yet informal. The menu is comprehensive, and there are several options for kids. The list of appetising main meals has something for every taste. 

Rivers Restaurant at the River Inn, Thredbo has been awarded Winner in the Restaurant & Catering NSW/ACT 2004 awards for Excellence in the ACT/Southern Region for Restaurant in a Motel/Motor Inn/Guest House category.  

The Awards for Excellence program is organised for the sole purpose of recognizing members in the industry with strict and unbiased judging covering all areas from taking reservations, appearance of the establishment, food and beverage review, service efficiency, attitude and appearance of staff.

Rivers Restaurant is licensed and seats 90 people. It is open nightly throughout the ski season and will open during the summer months.  Entrée’s are under $16 and mains include “Are you game?” a braised duck leg in a black beer, Emu & lemon myrtle sausage & Seared Ostrich fillet on black eyed beans as well as the more traditional cuisine.  Children are catered to with a childrens menu.

Try to save some room for dessert because the choices are sure to tempt. The restaurant is licensed and has a fantastic selection of red and white wines, some of which are available by the glass.

The Rivers Restaurant located in the River Inn, Thredbo is open from 6pm to 11pm each day during winter. Bookings are essential.

River Rock Café

On fine days, the sun deck at the River Rock Café is the ideal spot to take a break from the slopes. You can dry off, fuel up on food or drinks, admire the mountain views and bask in the sun. What’s more you barely have to leave the snow. It is just a few steps from the Gunbarrel Express chairlift at Friday Flat.

There’s a barbecue on the deck between 12-2pm each day, weather permitting. For around $6, you can choose from fresh-cooked beef, vegie or sausage burgers. The aromas from the hotplate are sure to set your mouth watering. Inside, the café has a good range of hot and cold lunch options, as well as plenty of sweet treats and warm drinks. The café is fully licensed and offers beer, wine, ciders and champagne. Top off a great day skiing or snowboarding with a few schnapps to warm you up.

The River Rock Café located at the base of the Gunbarrel chair lift at Thredbo is open from 7.00am to 4.30pm throughout the winter snow season.
